The Met Office has issued a red weather warning across the UK.
Which, translated from meteorological to human, means: do not go outside, do not attempt anything energetic, and under absolutely no circumstances should you consider travelling into town for a cocktail.
We are fully behind this advice.
Because here's the thing about a red warning day. It's not just hot. It's that specific, unreasonable British heat that arrives unannounced, parks itself over the entire country, and makes even the short walk to the kitchen feel like a questionable life choice.
The sofa is where you are. The sofa is where you shall remain.
And yet — a cold, properly flavoured cocktail would be rather wonderful right now, wouldn't it.
Good news. You don't need to move much.
A bottle of something cold from the fridge. A tube of No Brolly. Thirty seconds of effort that frankly still counts as effort in this heat. That's it. That's the whole recipe. Strawberry and lime, cold and fizzing, in your hand, on the sofa, with the fan pointed directly at your face.
No bar tab. No taxi in a sweltering car. No shoes.
Critically — no shoes.
The ice cream van will come to you. The No Brolly already has. The only remaining question is whether you can reach the fridge without breaking a sweat.
We believe in you.
Probably.
Stay cool. Stock up.
